Run baby run baby run baby run baby run...

That's me singing to the tune of Sheryl Crow!  No, I'm not exactly that old, but growing up I listened to a variety of music and she was one of them.

Today I'd like to acknowledge my man for doing an awesome job at last weekend's Adidas Auckland Marathon.  Even though his knees gave way during his run {from an old injury}, he pressed on with an incredible amount of pain to cross the finish line, not so much for himself, but for his Dad who at the same time was undergoing an open heart surgery.  Babe, what you did took a lot of courage, and I admire and commend you for that!  You and Dad made it to the finish line and I am so grateful to our Lord Jesus Christ for both your accomplishments that day!!  Though very tough, you both didn't give up and made it to the end!!

My brother Eric and brother-in-law Stanley also ran the full marathon and did so well.  And representing the gals in the family, my sissy-in-law Kat ran the quarter!!  While my niece Chanel and the Summerland Primary cheerleading team won 1st place at the International World Cheerleading Competition that same day.  All deserve this special acknowledgement for a job well done!!  You're all amazing and inspiring!!

Here are some pics we snapped up on the day!  Enjoy xo

Such an awesome day for me and my family!!  Love yaz all!!

Have a great day!!

Farewell Mr. Fletch!!

Last Friday my son Javaughnn's teacher left NZ to move to Tunisia.  It was a very difficult time for him and his classmates.  They absolutely love Mr. Fletcher so it was heart-breaking for them to say goodbye.  Javaughn considers him his best and most awesome teacher ('learning coach' as he calls it) so far...and he's only had him for half a school year - that's gotta say something!!  Fortunately, I've had the pleasure of also getting to know {Dave} and he is definitely one amazing and inspiring person.  I was gutted at the news because I knew how much of an impact he has made on Javaughn, not just with his learning, but his positive outlook on life.  I also believe that he is one of the reasons Javaughn is excelling at rugby league this year, which is fantastic!!

Javaughn wanted to express his gratitude to his teacher on his last day in cake form!  So he asked me to make him a special two-tier cake for Mr Fletcher (and of course the rest of the class).  Even though I was beyond exhausted that Thursday, I knew how important this was for my son, so I sacrificed my much needed sleep in order to get it done.  So, without further ado, here is Mr. Fletcher's thank you and farewell cake!  Enjoy!!

Hope you enjoyed today's cake feature!  See you back here for more cakes!!  Stay tuned!

Have a marvellous Monday!!

Inspiration, motivation...

I just want to let you all know that I am still here and okay...hehe.  I've just been busy with exciting projects that I haven't been able to pop in and say hello.  So, now that I have a moment, here's my HELLO!

I hope you're all enjoying this sunshiney day!!  Gorgeous days like this definitely inspire and motivate me to be productive!  I've already done my washing, a bit of cleaning, and our dinner is already cooking in the slow cooker and let me tell ya the aroma is divine!  Now, you're probably wondering what project I'll be sharing with you today...well, sorry to say but I won't be sharing anything until tomorrow.  Today I want to share with you one thing I did that helped me get inspired and motivated when I was feeling really defeated.

Last week I worked on two projects, and they were pretty big for one weekend.  I definitely underestimated how much work and time would be involved, which meant I had to go without sleep for over three days...not good at all!  One of the days I was feeling really defeated, my body was exhausted and my brain was slowly switching off.  I remember telling myself "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" over and over and over again.  Then I decided to get up and stop everything and just take a small break.  I looked at myself in the mirror and it was a depressing sight, hehe.  There was no inspiration evident in my reflection.  So I decided to spice things up a little with a classic/contemporary twist.  I did my hair, put on a little bit of makeup, and got changed.  What did I end up with?  Well, a more happy and inspiring me!  And honestly, I felt more energised afterwards and I was ready to get back into some serious hard work!

Have you ever experienced something like this before?  If so, what worked for you?  How did you get back on the inspiration wagon?   Do tell!
