What's on the menu??

Today I am excited to share with you a little DIY project I did (a couple of weeks ago) to help get some organisation in this house of mine.  It's definitely something I had been wanting to do for quite some time now.  I have seen a few cool ideas that others have in their homes and they've all inspired me to make my own.  Here are a couple from my favourite blog-reads for you to look at...

I wanted to have a Kiwiana theme, hence the pohutukawa scrapbook paper background.  I thought it would be appropriate seeing as Christmas is just around the corner, too.

S'mores and fondue

A couple of nights ago we had chocolate fondue with strawberries and mini marshmallows for dessert.  We also decided to make s'mores!  It was sooo much fun and sooo yummy, so of course most definitely blog-worthy!  Here are some pics my hubby snapped that night.  Enjoy!

Everyday I'm shuff-a-lin'

So, yesterday I was cleaning my twins' bedroom and right as I was gettin' really into it I decided to shuffle things around for a change.  After vacuuming and dusting and gathering all their toys and books, I began to move furniture around.  I must say, I'm glad I did because now their bedroom looks even cooler!  I'm sure it's going to change again in the future, but I think it will stay this way for a while.

I forgot to take a before pic (because I didn't actually plan to switch things around) but I thought I could use an old one I took when I shared their bunting and ribbon chandelier with you a while back.  What it was...

I couldn't find a before pic for this side of the room, but just picture the drawers and toy basket there instead of the cot beds.  I have plans for that big blank white space above the cot beds, so stay tuned.

Rarotonga - pure paradise!!

This Auckland weather (grey and gloomy) is really making me miss Rarotonga even more!!  The sun, the warm breeze, the clear water, the roosters, the paw paw, the island chillaxin' life...need I go on?  I was flickin' through some of my photos and decided to share some with you.  Just because I'm sure you'd like to escape away into paradise even for just a short moment...go on, you know you want to.  I won't tell your boss...hehe.

Cake's first overseas trip!

As you know, I spent the past week at my best friend's wedding in the beautiful Rarotonga.  Now, what's a wedding without cake?  Better yet, cake and cupcakes!  I wanted to gift the newly weds with a cupcake tower, incorporating their chosen colour theme - rasta (red, yellow and green).  I also made mini cupcake favours for the guests, which the lovely girls beautifully wrapped in cellophane and tied with ribbon.

New Zealand is a lot cooler in temperature than Rarotonga, so I needed to alter my icing recipe to suit the warmer weather.  I was really scared that as soon as we arrive to Raro the cupcakes and cake would melt!  I was even worried about the plane ride!  As soon as we landed the pilot applied maximum breaks, which pushed all of us forward!  All I could think about was my cake and cupcakes being squashed by all the other bags!

There was definitely a lot of holding-my-breath that went on until the wedding day.  To add to the stress levels, ants were everywhere so we had to make sure we covered the cake and cupcakes well and placed them somewhere high.  Ahhh...I'm just glad it made it to the reception venue still in tact.  Yes, the fondant softened and moved a bit, and some of the flowers broke off, but these were all minor things which hardly bothered me.  Overall, the presentation looked good and most importantly everyone said they tasted great!

I'm baaack!!

Hey guys, first of all I would like to apologise for not even letting you know that I would be away on a little holiday!  I was in the beautiful Rarotonga (Cook Islands) since last Friday and only arrived back yesterday.  I was there for my best friend's wedding and it was seriously the best wedding everrr!  Unfortunately, I didn't have my Canon with me (boohoo) but I managed to take some pics with my Mum's (Sony Cybershot) digital camera.  I had to hand-carry the wedding cake and cupcakes so I had no space for my Canon...next time I'll definitely bring him.  But to be honest, no matter what kind of camera you have, you'll be able to capture beautiful photographs because Rarotonga is just that!  Beautiful!  Everywhere was a kodak moment I tell ya!  I will try and put some pics together from everyone's cameras because I didn't get to take a lot.  But here are a few sneak peeks for you to see...enjoy!
