The Love Movement

As you may have heard and seen in the news, super typhoon Haiyan {Yolanda} hit Philippines last Friday.  It has killed over 10,000 people, and has left so many more without the basic necessities, such as shelter, power, food, water, and medicine, just to name a few.  Being a Filipino myself, it really broke my heart to see and hear about what my people are going through right now.  I couldn't and still can't even fathom it.  And I felt so helpless...until...

...a lovely friend of mine, Krishna Marinas, has put a {personal} fundraiser together called The Love Movement.  Philippines is also home to her, and she wanted to come up with a practical way to help those who need it most, and now you can, too!  This event is happening tonight at Conch {Ponsonby, Auckland} from 5pm-8pm.  Check out the poster below for all the details.

Krishna was also invited to speak at 3 News Live this morning, where she shared why she started this movement and what she'll be doing with all the funds raised.  If you'd like to see this video, click on this link.

I really hope you can make it tonight!  If not, there are other ways you can donate.  Just go to The Love Movement on facebook for all the details.  Oh, and did I forget to mention that there's going to be a spectacular raffle tonight?  Some AHHHHMAZING prizes to be won, so don't miss out!!

Hope to see you there!

Mini cupcakes

Hey guys!  I hope you've all been keeping well!  As you may have noticed I've been MIA for a while, but that's what happens when life happens :-)  Just so you know, I am well and happy and feel blessed each new day :-)

I have some cupcakes to share with you today that I made a couple of weeks ago.  These mini cupcakes were made for my friend Tamara at Photobooth Auckland.  She featured my Cake Central Magazine wedding cake and mini cupcakes at this year's 'The Grand Wedding Expo' held at Sky City.  I must admit, that was pretty darn exciting for me because it was my very first time to be involved in such a popular event :-)  Thanks again Tamara and your team for your love and support xo

I didn't get to take photos at the actual expo because I got sidetracked with all the other beautiful and yummy things over there, hehe.  So, here are a couple I took the night before.  Simple yet scrumptious!  Enjoy xo

I hope you enjoyed today's cupcake feature!  See you back here this week for more cupcakes!

Have a blessed day!!

Heart-to-heart!

Totally non-cake/DIY-related, but worthy of sharing!!  My brother Eric is running at this weekend's Adidas Auckland Marathon to help raise funds for the Heart Foundation, and he needs your support!!  Both our parents have had open heart surgeries {one double and one triple bypass} and we know how scary this is.  Thankfully, by the grace of God, both our parents had successful surgeries and are now living very well.  It was a tough time for all of us though, and of course, even tougher for our parents.  The healing process took time, and yes, it was a struggle both physically and emotionally, but with the love and support they each received from all their family and friends, as well as the healing grace of God, it was a journey worth going through.  They are a living testament to the wonderful works of God, and the amazing work the Heart Foundation has done here in NZ.

The following link will take you to my brother's fundraising page, and there you can make a donation of any amount and that amount will go to the Heart Foundation so they can continue their vital work in research, cardiac rehabilitation, education programmes and resources.  Click here to show your support: http://www.heartracer.org.nz/JohnEricBook/.

Thank you all for your love and support!!  May you all be blessed abundantly!!

PASIFIKA 2012

On Saturday, not only did we attend two birthdays, but we also went to Pasifika!  We really wanted to just walk around as a family and immerse ourselves in the different island cultures, and of course, there's no denying it, the food!  It was Javier and Carlyle's first time, too, so it was pretty exciting for them.

Here are some pics of our family day at Western Springs Pasifika.  Enjoy!!

We stopped at Tonga Village, being an *honorary Tongan myself, I simply had to!  hehe

Then a very sleepy Carlyle was trying his best to stay awake!!

While Javier was loving every minute of it!!

Mmm...ice cream inside a pineapple!!  I just couldn't resist!!

My Samoan boys xo  Carlyle couldn't fight it anymore...zzz

Lotsa people!

Bought me a li'l cute pair of flower earrings to replace an old pair

Hubby with his island food!

Our monkey boy Javaughn had a blast!

For my Fijian family!
Toffee/candy apple on a stick

Hope you enjoyed this day as much as we did!  Next year, I'll be sure to stay longer so I can spend time watching the performances!

Have a great day!!

xo

*My friends back in high school used to refer to me as the honorary Tongan because I danced for the Tongan group for three years for the ASB Secondary Schools Polynesian Festival.  :-)

No need to 'shake it like a polaroid picture!'

On the weekend we had my hubby's work christmas function for CDB Goldair.  It was sooo much fun for both adults and kids!  There was a bouncy castle, a surf board thingee that you ride, a massive pool to swim in, a spa to keep you warm, bean bags all over the beautiful lawn to chillax in, delicious food and beverages by the amazing catering team Orange Gourmet, and last but not least, the awesome Photobooth by Photobooth Auckland (this made the party that much more fun and memorable!).

Here is a pic I scanned to show y'all what fun it is to have a photobooth at your event - soooooooo cooooool!!!

Honestly, this is one thing I would highly recommend to anyone for any occasion!  It is sooo worth it!  Unlimited prints, unlimited fun!!  You can personalize the message at the bottom, like we did here, to suit your occasion.  Just contact Tamara here and book your next function/birthday/wedding/whatever!  I promise you will love it and your guests will rave about it forever!

Spread the word to your family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, random passer-byers (if that's even a word) and tell them about Photobooth Auckland now!  Visit their website on www.photoboothauckland.com.
