Mini cupcakes

Hey guys!  I hope you've all been keeping well!  As you may have noticed I've been MIA for a while, but that's what happens when life happens :-)  Just so you know, I am well and happy and feel blessed each new day :-)

I have some cupcakes to share with you today that I made a couple of weeks ago.  These mini cupcakes were made for my friend Tamara at Photobooth Auckland.  She featured my Cake Central Magazine wedding cake and mini cupcakes at this year's 'The Grand Wedding Expo' held at Sky City.  I must admit, that was pretty darn exciting for me because it was my very first time to be involved in such a popular event :-)  Thanks again Tamara and your team for your love and support xo

I didn't get to take photos at the actual expo because I got sidetracked with all the other beautiful and yummy things over there, hehe.  So, here are a couple I took the night before.  Simple yet scrumptious!  Enjoy xo

I hope you enjoyed today's cupcake feature!  See you back here this week for more cupcakes!

Have a blessed day!!

Happy 4th Birthday Emma!!

Three days ago I made a special birthday cake for a special girl named Emma.  Her parents weren't planning on doing anything 'big' for her fourth, but li'l Miss Emma had other plans.  When asked what she wanted for her birthday, she asked for a Princess Sofia the 1st cake, like the Pocoyo one I made for her sister Alexis earlier this year.  As parents, we do our best to grant our children's birthday wishes {within reason}, and so that's how this cake request came about.

Of course, I was absolutely clueless as to who/what this character was!  I didn't even know it was a show on Disney Junior, until good ole Google informed me.  I have three boys, so I don't really know much of the recent girly characters and shows around, other than the ones I grew up knowing and loving {like Pocahontas, Cinderella, and so on}.  So, this cake was pure excitement for me and also a rare opportunity for me to really be girly :-D

Emma's Mum knew what she wanted.  A glittery girly cake with Princess Sofia's full body.  Oh, and underneath had to be red velvet with cream cheese buttercream.  Talk about an awesome combo!!  I must say, I really enjoyed making this cake because it was magical, royal, and just girly!  I hope you like it xo

Lovely details...

Well, I hope you enjoyed today's cake feature!!  I can't wait to show you more cake creations!!  You'll just have to wait and see in the next couple of weeks...I'm super excited!!  :-D

Have a lovely weekend guys, and see you back here next week!!

God bless!

Happy Birthday Stanley!!

On Monday {April 1st} we celebrated my brother-in-law Stanley's birthday.  It was just something low-key that was put together that same day...kind of like the cake I made for him.  He enjoys my chocolate cakes very much, so it was a no-brainer that I had to make him that.  To make it extra special, I added some decadent ferrero rocher chocolates and sprinkled the top with golden cachous.  As much as I wanted to make him a Warriors cake, I know how much he enjoys a simple classic cake.  Here are some pics for you to enjoy...but I couldn't decide between two names...so there are two versions here.  You decide! :-P

The pic above was taken after I added a sprinkle of golden cachous...while the pic below was taken before...

And here is a close up of the delicious ferrero rocher chocolates sitting on top of a thick layer of chocolate buttercream...

The birthday boy thoroughly enjoyed the cake and so did the rest of the family so big thumbs up for that!!  You can never go wrong with a chocolate birthday cake I say!!  Unless it's dry...:-/

One of the coolest presents Stanley got was the Warriors win against the Cowboys {20-18}.  We were all sooo happy that they finally won, after so many consecutive losses.  We kept the faith and I'm glad we did :-)

Hope you enjoyed today's cake feature!  Can't wait to share a girly one with you next week!  Until then, keep smilin' and tell someone you love how awesome they are!!

Happy 29th birthday Rob!!

Hello peeps!!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend with your loved ones!!  And I know if you're anything like me you may have had one too many chocolate eggs that you're probably feeling a wee bit guilty today :-/.  Well, I guess I just have to work harder this week...YEAH RIGHT!!

On Easter Saturday I had the pleasure of making a really cool birthday cake for my friend Irene's hubby Rob, who turned 29!!  The number I'm getting closer and closer to reaching...but for now I will keep telling my son I am only 25, hehe.  Now, this cake was quite the challenge to put together, but it was just the kind of thing I needed to keep my creative flame burning.  Rob is a Bulldogs fan, and Irene thought it would be awesome to give him a retro bulldogs jersey cake for his birthday! What a sweet wife, huh?  This would be my second NRL birthday cake to date...remember this one I made last time?  What I found to be the main challenge for this cake was making the two patches: the bulldog and the shield.  It required undivided attention and a very steady hand...which was quite hard to achieve at 3 in the morning haha!  To be honest, I don't even know what time it was, but I remember not sleeping :-/

I hope you enjoy this cake, be it your team or not :-P...I certainly loved putting it together!!

I added a personalised message on the side of the cake...

Here's a progress shot of the bulldog...

And here are some photos sent by Irene with the birthday boy :-)  Happy birthday Rob!!

I hope you enjoyed today's cake feature as much as Rob and Irene did!!  Can't wait to share many more cakes with you all!!

Have a great Tuesday and see you back here tomorrow for a classic birthday cake that I made for my bro-in-law Stanley yesterday...

Jackie

P.S. Did anyone watch the Warriors game last night?  I'm just so happy they FINALLY WON!!  Keepin' the faith guys!!  :-)
